How did R&B/Rock/Pop take over Rock?

Because that music just got more "unique" to the teens of today. It was "new and shiny" lol! I'm a teen and I disagree completely. In my opinion, they all sound the same... It's said that 92% of teens listen to pop/rap etc.... and the other 8% listen to metal/rock. I'm in that 8% and proud.
