I need advice regarding education and getting a degree.?

I am in the army and am based in Cyprus. I will based here for another year and then I will move to England. I plan to stay in the army for another 2 and a half years. When I leave the army I would like to do a degree in philosophy or something close, probably at Bolton University. I currently have 3 A's, 2 B's a C and a D at GCSE level. That includes a minimum C in maths, English and science. I also have 3 C's and a B at AS level. As far as I am aware the only way I can access higher education out here is through the Open University. I had a look at one of their brochures but I found it confusing. I need to know if there is any other way I can get the qualifications I need other than the Open University and also what I would need to do with the Open Uni to get myself ready for a degree.
