Watergate Crisis?

What is the economic importance of Watergate? I understand what it was & how it affected Nixon & his presidency, but i can't quite understand it's economic importance. Was it b/c of the congressional reforms like the 1974 congressional budget and impoundment control act which restricted the presidents authority to impound federal funds? Please help, i dono if i'm on the right track.
